IMPROVED HEALTH AND GREAT TASTE IN A BOTTLE

I was introduced to Papa Vince by a friend when given a bottle of the Extra Virgin Olive Oil as a birthday present.

Its taste is so smooth, CLEAN, crisp and FRESH! I had to look it up online and do some homework on it and its history. OMG! No WONDER! Not only that, look up the benefits of EVOO for your health.

These days when you WANT to improve your health, you WANT to lower your cholesterol, you WANT to find something that will combat that weight that does NOT want to come off, then you find a big piece of that puzzle: Papa Vince Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

This EVOO is now part of my daily health regimen: two tablespoons a day. My skin is smoother and softer, the weight is coming off, my hair is softer and healthier...too many benefits to list here.

I'm now giving Papa Vince EVOO to friends for I want them to enjoy all of these benefits I have discovered. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. As for freshness: you can't beat this product. Each bottle is labeled with the harvest date and expiration date.  What I just received shows it was harvested October 2023 - EXCELLENT! I don't see that with mass produced EVOO from the grocery store.

Do yourself a favor: Give yourself the gift of Papa Vince. You'll be SO GLAD you did!

20+ stars on a 5 star scale!!!! Thank you Papa Vince!

LAB TESTED: Proven Quality

At Papa Vince, we take pride in ensuring our Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) meets the highest standards of purity and nutritional value. To substantiate our claims, we conduct comprehensive lab tests that confirm the exceptional quality of our olive oil.

Our EVOO contains an impressive 276 mg/kg of polyphenols, well above the threshold of 220 mg/kg, which is considered high. These powerful antioxidants help combat oxidative stress and inflammation, contributing significantly to overall health.

Furthermore, our lab results show that Papa Vince EVOO contains 16.8 mg/kg of hydroxytyrosol, a remarkable 3x the amount considered high (5 mg/kg). Hydroxytyrosol is known for its potent neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, enhancing cardiovascular health and potentially offering protection against neurodegenerative diseases.

What sets Papa Vince apart is our unwavering commitment to transparency and quality. Our lab tests provide concrete evidence of our EVOO's superior polyphenol and hydroxytyrosol content. This meticulous testing process not only verifies the health benefits of our olive oil but also ensures that you receive a product that maintains its nutritional integrity from harvest to bottle.

Our dedication to quality means you can enjoy the remarkable health benefits of high-polyphenol, and high-hydroxytyrosol olive oil without sacrificing taste. Papa Vince EVOO offers vibrant, fresh flavors with hints of tomatoes and artichokes, culminating in a memorable peppery finish, making it ideal for both culinary and health purposes.

For more detailed insights into our lab testing process and results, visit our lab test page.

NOTE: This is a 9-month post-harvest, that spent 60 days in a container and spent 5 days going to the lab in California; and still, has this nutritional profile! It’s not tested at harvest date when probably these values would be much higher, we are lab testing what you are getting in your bottle!

Why Choose Papa Vince EVOO

POLYPHENOL-RICH OLIVE OIL

Papa Vince Extra Virgin Olive Oil is exceptionally rich in polyphenols, thanks to our use of the Nocellara del Belice olives.

These olives naturally have a high polyphenol content, which results in a powerful antioxidant effect. These antioxidants protect your body from oxidative stress and inflammation.

Papa Vince EVOO is packed with polyphenols like, oleocanthal, oleacein, tyrosol and 3x hydroxytyrosol.

These polyphenols are known for their remarkable health benefits, including reducing the risk of chronic diseases and enhancing cellular health. Enjoy the vibrant, peppery finish that signifies the robust polyphenol content in every drop.

Papa Vince EVOO contains: 276 mg/kg of Polyphenols

Considered “high”: 220 mg/kg Polyphenols

AFRICAN DESERT STRESS BOOSTS SICILIAN EVOO POLYPHENOLS

Papa Vince Extra Virgin Olive Oil is born from the unique Sicilian terroir, where the intense African Scirocco winds create an environment of heat and water stress that enriches our olive trees.

These powerful winds, reaching speeds of over 50 mph, cause temperatures to soar up to 104°F (40°C), triggering our trees to produce exceptionally high levels of polyphenols and 3x hydroxytyrosol as a defense mechanism.

The result is an EVOO with an impressive concentration of these potent antioxidants:

  • High in Polyphenols: 276 mg/kg
  • High in Oleocanthal: 167.9 mg/kg
  • High in Oleacein: 86.1 mg/kg
  • High in Tyrosol: 8.2 mg/kg

3X HIGHER HYDROXYTYROSOL THAN OTHER High Quality EVOO

The Nocellara del Belice olive variety is central to the impressive hydroxytyrosol levels in Papa Vince EVOO. While high-quality extra virgin olive oils typically contain around 5 mg/kg of hydroxytyrosol, the Nocellara del Belice olives generally have about 10 mg/kg—2x the average.

Additionally, due to our meticulous care and quality processes, Papa Vince EVOO boasts an extraordinary 16.8 mg/kg, +3x the amount found in other premium olive oils.

This powerful antioxidant is known for its neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, significantly enhancing the health benefits of hydroxytyrosol-rich EVOO.

By choosing Papa Vince, you're getting an olive oil that goes above and beyond in delivering the goodness of hydroxytyrosol.

By choosing Papa Vince, you’re supporting a family tradition of excellence.

THE ONLY OLIVE OIL THAT HAS VITAMINS!

Papa Vince EVOO is unique in its high content of essential vitamins. It provides Vitamin E, supporting skin health and immune function. Additionally, it contains Vitamin K, crucial for bone health and blood clotting.

Both Vitamin E and Vitamin K are heat and light sensitive, which makes their presence in our nutritional panel even more significant. This not only speaks to the gentle processing during olive oil production but also highlights the extreme care and attention to detail we take in the storage and transportation from start to finish.

Our commitment to preserving these vitamins ensures that you receive the full nutritional benefits in every bottle.

With Papa Vince EVOO, you get 20% DV of Vitamin E and 6% DV of Vitamin K, delivered with unmatched quality and care.

LOW ACIDITY = 4-YEAR SHELF LIFE

Papa Vince EVOO boasts an exceptionally low acidity (FFA < 0.33), far surpassing the International Olive Council’s (IOC) standard for extra virgin olive oil. This low acidity contributes to its impressive shelf life of up to 4 years before opening, ensuring that you enjoy the freshest and most nutritious olive oil for longer.

Papa Vince’s EVOO acidity: <0.33%

Vitamin Powerhouse Extra Virgin Olive Oil

What vitamins are present in Papa Vince Extra Virgin Olive Oil?

Papa Vince Extra Virgin Olive Oil provides 20% of your daily Vitamin E needs and 6% of your daily Vitamin K requirements. These vitamins are crucial for skin health, immune function, bone health, and blood clotting.

Notably, vitamins E and K are heat and light-sensitive, so their presence indicates that our EVOO has been carefully protected from light, heat, and oxygen.

Additionally, our EVOO is packed with powerful antioxidants like oleocanthal and 3x levels of hydroxytyrosol, ensuring maximum health benefits in every bottle.

How does the mechanical pressing method preserve the vitamins and antioxidants in the olive oil?

The mechanical pressing method preserves the vitamins and antioxidants in Papa Vince Extra Virgin Olive Oil by maintaining low temperatures and minimizing light exposure during extraction. This gentle process ensures that heat-sensitive nutrients like Vitamin E, Vitamin K, polyphenols, and hydroxytyrosol remain intact, providing maximum health benefits.

How does the storage and transportation affect the vitamins and antioxidants?

Storage and transportation play a critical role in preserving the vitamins and antioxidants in olive oil. Olive oil exposed to strong light and fluctuating temperatures, as often seen in grocery stores, can degrade its nutritional value.

At Papa Vince, we avoid this by shipping our olive oil directly to your door, ensuring it remains in optimal conditions, free from harmful light. This practice helps maintain the oil’s integrity and health benefits from production to consumption.

What is hydroxytyrosol, what are its health benefits and why is it important?

Hydroxytyrosol is a potent antioxidant naturally found in olive oil, particularly abundant in Papa Vince Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Known as the "king of polyphenols," it has the highest antioxidant capacity compared to other polyphenols.

Hydroxytyrosol stands out due to its high bioavailability, meaning it is easily absorbed and utilized by the body. It significantly reduces oxidative stress, a major factor in aging, chronic diseases and metabolic dysfunction, by neutralizing free radicals and protecting cells and tissues.

Its anti-inflammatory effects lower the risk of chronic inflammatory diseases, while also supporting cardiovascular health by improving cholesterol levels, reducing blood pressure, and protecting against atherosclerosis.

Moreover, hydroxytyrosol has neuroprotective properties, helping to safeguard brain cells from damage and potentially lowering the risk of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

With Papa Vince EVOO, you get a rich source of hydroxytyrosol, ensuring you benefit from these extensive health properties in every serving.

Why is the presence of Vitamin E significant in extra virgin olive oil?

The presence of Vitamin E in extra virgin olive oil is significant for several reasons:
Antioxidant Properties:Vitamin E acts as a protective agent against autoxidation, preventing rancidity and extending the shelf life of the olive oil, giving it oxidative stability while maintaining its nutritional value.

Health Benefits: As an essential nutrient, Vitamin E aids in the creation of blood and muscle cells, enhances oxygen absorption, and provides antioxidant functions that prevent oxidative reactions in the body. It is also linked to protection against certain cancer-related diseases.

High Content in α-Tocopherol: Extra virgin olive oil contains a high percentage of α-tocopherol, the most active form of Vitamin E. This is important because many vegetable oils contain various forms of vitamin E, including α-, β-, γ-, and δ-tocopherols. However, the higher α-tocopherol content in extra virgin olive oil means it provides a more significant amount of this highly effective antioxidant per serving. This makes extra virgin olive oil a superior choice for those looking to increase their intake of this valuable nutrient.

Nutritional Value: Vitamin E is a crucial component of a healthy diet. A tablespoon of olive oil contains about 20% of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin E in the most bioactive form (α-Tocopherol), contributing significantly to the oil's overall nutritional profile.

Quality Indicator: The presence of Vitamin E is an important indicator of the quality of olive oil. High-quality olive oils typically have higher levels of Vitamin E, influenced by factors such as the olive cultivar, processing techniques, and storage conditions.

In Papa Vince EVOO, the high content of Vitamin E ensures you benefit from these essential health properties in every serving.

How does Papa Vince ensure the retention of polyphenols during the production process?

Papa Vince ensures the retention of polyphenols during the production process through several meticulous steps:
Early Harvest:We harvest our olives early when polyphenol levels are at their peak, ensuring maximum antioxidant content.

Mechanical Pressing: We use a gentle mechanical pressing method that minimizes exposure to heat and light, preserving the delicate polyphenols.

Optimal Storage: Our EVOO is stored in dark glass bottles to protect it from light and temperature fluctuations, which can degrade polyphenols.

Careful Transportation: We ship directly to customers, avoiding prolonged exposure to unfavorable conditions in grocery stores.

These practices ensure that our EVOO retains its high polyphenol content, providing exceptional health benefits in every bottle.

Why is early harvest important for the quality of extra virgin olive oil?

Early harvest in EVOO production involves picking olives when they are still green and unripe, typically in the early fall. This timing is crucial for several reasons:
Higher Antioxidant Content:Early harvest olives have higher levels of antioxidants and polyphenols, enhancing the oil’s health benefits and extending its shelf life by protecting against oxidation.

Lower Acidity: Olive oil from early harvests typically has lower acidity, contributing to better quality and stability.br>
Unique Flavor Profile: Early harvest olive oil has a robust and intense flavor, with peppery, bitter notes and a grassy aroma due to the higher chlorophyll content in unripe olives.

Health Benefits: The elevated antioxidants and polyphenols in early harvest olive oil offer various health benefits, including cardiovascular protection and anti-aging properties, while being rich in vitamin E.

Cold-Pressing Methods: Early harvest olive oil is often produced using cold-pressing, which preserves its natural flavor and nutritional properties by avoiding heat and chemicals.

Lower Yield: The yield of early harvest olive oil is typically lower compared to traditional extra virgin olive oils, as more olives are required to produce the same amount of oil. However, we prioritize quality over quantity to ensure you receive the best possible product.

Family Tradition for Your Nutrition

What does "single source" mean in the context of Papa Vince Olive Oil?

"Single source" means that all the olives used to produce the oil come from a single estate. At Papa Vince: Valley of Belice, Sicily, Italy.

This ensures consistent quality and flavor, as the olives are grown, harvested, and processed under the same conditions. The single source approach allows for complete traceability, meaning every bottle of Papa Vince EVOO reflects the unique terroir and meticulous care of our family-owned orchards, guaranteeing a pure and authentic product.

Can you explain the significance of using Nocellara del Belice olives in your olive oil?

Nocellara del Belice Olives = 3X Hydroxytyrosol compared to other High-Quality EVOOs!

The use of Nocellara del Belice olives in Papa Vince Olive Oil is significant due to their exceptionally high hydroxytyrosol content.

While high-quality extra virgin olive oils typically contain around 5 mg/kg of hydroxytyrosol, Papa Vince EVOO boasts an impressive 16.8 mg/kg—+3X the amount found in other premium extra virgin olive oils.

This remarkable level is due to the Nocellara del Belice olive variety, which naturally contains about 2X as much hydroxytyrosol (around 10 mg/kg). Papa Vince's meticulous care and quality processes elevate this even further, making it a truly exceptional source of this powerful antioxidant.

This high level of hydroxytyrosol enhances the health benefits, providing superior antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that support cardiovascular health and overall well-being, making our EVOO both delicious and highly beneficial.

How does Papa Vince ensure the traceability of its olive oil from tree to bottle?

IPapa Vince ensures the traceability of its olive oil from tree to bottle through meticulous monitoring and documentation at every stage of production.

Each step, from cultivation to harvest and pressing, is carefully overseen at our single estate in Santa Ninfa, Sicily. We document the harvest date, production batch, and storage conditions, allowing us to trace each bottle back to the exact grove and harvest period.

This transparency guarantees that our customers receive pure, authentic, and high-quality olive oil, reflecting our commitment to excellence.

Every bottle of Papa Vince EVOO includes a Lot Number and Harvest Date on the back, allowing you to trace it back to the exact grove and harvest period.

How does the family tradition of olive farming contribute to the quality of Papa Vince Olive Oil?

The family tradition of olive farming at Papa Vince significantly enhances the quality of our olive oil.

Our story begins with Papa Vince, who learned the art of making Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) as an apprentice for the Knight of De Stefani at the Medieval Castello of Rampinzeri, Santa Ninfa, Italy. This deep-rooted knowledge, passed down through generations, ensures meticulous attention to detail in every step of the process.

From handpicking the finest Nocellara del Belice olives to blending traditional methods with modern technology, our dedication to excellence results in superior, high-quality EVOO.

This commitment to tradition and quality is reflected in the rich flavor and health benefits of every bottle of Papa Vince Olive Oil.

From Sicily to Your Table

How does the climate in Sicily contribute to the quality of Papa Vince Olive Oil?

The unique Sicilian climate, characterized by intense African Scirocco winds, plays a crucial role in the quality of Papa Vince Olive Oil.

These powerful winds, reaching speeds over 50 mph and causing temperatures to soar up to 104°F (40°C), create an environment of heat and water stress for our olive trees. In response, the trees produce exceptionally high levels of polyphenols and hydroxytyrosol as a defense mechanism.

This results in EVOO with an impressive concentration of these potent antioxidants, offering remarkable health benefits and a distinct, robust flavor profile.

What role do the wind and sun play in the cultivation of high polyphenol olives?

The wind and sun are crucial in cultivating high polyphenol olives for Papa Vince Olive Oil.

The intense African Scirocco winds, with speeds over 50 mph and temperatures reaching up to 104°F (40°C), create heat and water stress for the olive trees. This stress prompts the trees to produce higher levels of polyphenols and hydroxytyrosol as a defense mechanism.

Additionally, the abundant Sicilian sunshine ensures optimal growing conditions, enhancing the nutritional quality and robust flavor of our olives.

How do ancient traditions influence the production methods of Papa Vince Olive Oil?

Ancient traditions play a significant role in the production methods of Papa Vince Olive Oil.

Our process begins with handpicking the finest Nocellara del Belice olives, a practice passed down through generations. This method ensures the olives are harvested at their peak.

Additionally, we use a mechanical press, a technique learned by Papa Vince during his apprenticeship with the Knight of De Stefani at the Medieval Castello of Rampinzeri.

These traditional practices, combined with modern technology, ensure the highest quality and flavor in our EVOO.

Why is early harvest important for the quality of extra virgin olive oil?

1) Flavor Profile: Sicilian oils range from sweet and delicate to rich and spicy, with herbaceous or grassy notes, and hints of tomato stem, green tomato, or artichoke. Oils from western Sicily often have a sweetness or almond flavor, while those from the east are more herbaceous or grassy.

2) Cultivars: Sicily is home to unique olive cultivars like Biancolilla, Cerasuola, Nocellara del Belice, Nocellara Etnea, and Tonda Iblea, contributing to the oil's distinct characteristics.

3) Climate and Terroir: The fertile soil, African Scirocco winds and favorable climate with mild temperatures in Sicily enhance the oil's unique qualities.

4) Production Methods: Traditional methods are commonly used, with many families taking their olives to local cooperative mills for pressing.

5) Versatility: The versatile flavor profile of Sicilian olive oil makes it ideal for both cooking and finishing dishes.

These elements combine to create an olive oil that captures the essence of Sicilian heritage and natural richness, making it truly exceptional.

High Quality & Lab Tested

Why is Papa Vince not in the grocery store?

Papa Vince Extra Virgin Olive Oil is not available in grocery stores to ensure the preservation of its vitamins and antioxidants.

Exposure to strong light and fluctuating temperatures, common in grocery stores, can degrade the nutritional value of olive oil. By shipping directly to customers, we maintain optimal conditions during storage and transportation, protecting the oil’s integrity and ensuring you receive the highest quality product with all its health benefits intact.

How does the packaging help in preserving the quality of the olive oil?

The packaging of Papa Vince Olive Oil plays a crucial role in preserving its quality.

Our oil is bottled in dark glass bottles, which protect it from light exposure. Light can degrade the oil's vitamins and antioxidants, reducing its nutritional value and flavor.

The dark glass ensures that the oil remains fresh and maintains its health benefits by shielding it from harmful light and temperature fluctuations during storage and transportation.

What does it mean for olive oil to have low acidity, and why is it important?

When it comes to olive oil, low acidity is a key indicator of quality and freshness. Acidity in olive oil refers to the amount of free fatty acids present, which are formed when the oil begins to break down and oxidize. The lower the acidity, the better the oil.

For an olive oil to be classified as "extra virgin," it must have an acidity level of 0.8% or less. This low acidity is important because it means that the olives were harvested at the right time, processed quickly, and handled with care to minimize oxidation and degradation.

High acidity levels, on the other hand, can indicate that the olives were overripe, damaged, or improperly handled during harvesting or processing. This can result in an oil that tastes rancid, musty, or vinegary, and has lost many of its beneficial properties.

Low acidity is also crucial for the shelf life of the oil. Olive oils with higher acidity levels tend to spoil more quickly, while those with low acidity can maintain their quality and flavor for longer.

In summary, low acidity in olive oil is a sign of superior quality, freshness, and proper handling. It ensures that you're getting an oil that tastes great, offers the most health benefits, and lasts longer in your pantry.

How are polyphenol levels measured and maintained in Papa Vince Olive Oil?

At Papa Vince, polyphenol levels are meticulously measured using specialized lab tests that quantify the antioxidant content in each batch of olive oil.

We ensure high polyphenol levels by harvesting Nocellara del Belice olives early, when polyphenol concentrations are at their peak. Our mechanical pressing method preserves these antioxidants by minimizing heat and light exposure. Additionally, we store our olive oil in dark glass bottles to protect it from light and temperature fluctuations, maintaining its high polyphenol content and ensuring maximum health benefits and flavor.

What kind of lab tests are conducted to ensure the quality of Papa Vince Olive Oil?

Ancient grains hold a significant nutritional edge over modern ones.

To ensure the quality of Papa Vince Olive Oil, we conduct rigorous lab tests at Eurofins, a renowned California-based lab.

These tests include a Total Polyphenol Test and a Polyphenol Profile Test.

The results are remarkable:
Total Polyphenols: 276 mg/kg (considered very high, with 220 mg/kg being a benchmark for high quality)

Polyphenol Profile:
• Hydroxytyrosol: 16.8 mg/kg (exceptionally high compared to the 5 mg/kg benchmark)
• Oleacein: 86.1 mg/kg (much higher than the 30 mg/kg standard)
• Oleocanthal: 167.9 mg/kg (surpassing the 150 mg/kg standard)
• Tyrosol: 8.2 mg/kg

These tests confirm the exceptional antioxidant content and overall quality of our EVOO.

How does the lab testing process ensure that Papa Vince Olive Oil is free from pesticides and contaminants?

A Deep Dive into Extra Virgin Olive Oil: What Makes It Special?

What is Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)?

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is the highest quality olive oil that is extracted from the first pressing of olives without the use of heat or chemicals. It is considered the purest form of olive oil and is known for its exceptional flavor and aroma.

EVOO must meet strict guidelines and undergo chemical analysis requirements to be labeled as such. It is rich in dietary fats and antioxidants, making it a healthy choice for cooking and consumption.

Unlike other types of olive oil, EVOO is rich in polyphenols, powerful antioxidants that provide significant health benefits.

Oils not labeled as extra virgin have very limited polyphenol content. To be classified as EVOO, it must meet strict guidelines and chemical analysis requirements, ensuring its purity and health benefits.

How is high phenolic EVOO different than regular EVOO?

High phenolic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) and regular EVOO differ primarily in their polyphenol content.

Here are the key differences:
Polyphenol Content:
• High phenolic EVOO typically has a higher concentration of polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants. The polyphenol content in high phenolic EVOO can range from 250 to 1500 mg/kg.
• Regular EVOO usually has a lower polyphenol content, typically around 100 mg/kg.

Production Process:
• High phenolic EVOO is produced using a specialized cold-pressing process, which helps preserve the natural polyphenols in the olives. This process involves careful selection of high-polyphenol olive varieties, such as Nocellara del Belice, and meticulous handling to minimize oxidation and heat exposure.
• Regular EVOO may not follow the same rigorous production process, potentially resulting in lower polyphenol levels.

Health Benefits:
• High phenolic EVOO is associated with numerous health benefits, including anti-inflammatory and anti-atherosclerotic properties. The powerful antioxidant action has been linked to reducing the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers.
• Regular EVOO still has some health benefits due to its antioxidant properties, but the benefits may be less pronounced compared to high phenolic EVOO.

Taste and Flavor:
• High phenolic EVOO often has a more robust flavor profile due to the higher polyphenol content, which can contribute to a peppery taste and a more intense aroma.
• Regular EVOO may have a milder flavor profile.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) allows a health claim for EVOO with high polyphenol content, highlighting its protective effects.

Notably, our lab tests show that even 9 months post-harvest, after spending 60 days in a container and 5 days in transit to a lab in California, our EVOO still maintains its high nutritional profile.

We ensure that the polyphenol levels reported at harvest are what you get in your bottle, guaranteeing consistent quality and health benefits.
