Frequently Asked Questions
Does this olive oil have an IOC (International Olive Oil Council) label?
No, we don't have an IOC label. But the quality of our product speaks for itself at first taste. This comes from the simplicity of our process since Papa Vince is literally the juice of the olive. We squeeze/press fresh olives right into each one of our bottles. Simple, natural, and tasty!
Is the container glass or plastic?
It is GLASS!! All Papa Vince products use glass containers and always will.
Why? Glass is cleaner than plastic. The non-porous surface of glass doesn't absorb food and germs (and smells). Glass keeps food fresh for a longer time without the need for preservatives and enhancers. Glass is also food-grade safe. So that’s a lot of good reasons to use glass containers!
I can see sediment at the bottom and side of the bottle. Is this normal?
Yes, perfectly normal. Papa Vince is unfiltered, which means we don’t use chemical or physical filters to standardize the look of our extra virgin olive oil. This helps us keep a higher level of antioxidants and polyphenols. And, of course, the more antioxidants and polyphenols it contains, the better the measure of health the extra virgin olive oil delivers to the body.
Is it cloudy?
Papa Vince Extra Virgin Olive Oil is not filtered, it’s decanted. After harvesting, we let the oil decant for about 2 months. As a result, Papa Vince Extra Virgin Olive Oil is neither transparent nor cloudy, but just right!
How many polyphenols per kilogram does this oil have?
At the time of harvest, the level of polyphenols Papa Vince Extra Virgin Olive Oil contains ranges from 432 mg/kg to 487 mg/kg. Please remember that polyphenols are antioxidants, which are perishable, so this value will slowly decrease with time. Storing your bottle of Papa Vince's Extra Virgin Olive Oil away from heat and light will significantly slow down this natural process.
Is it good to cook with?
Yes, it is good to cook with! In fact, you might notice that your food is lighter, digests more easily, and tastes even better!!
